Will Disputes

We approach every issue creatively to achieve the best results

Disputes often arise when dependents do not receive a reasonable financial provision out of the estate. If you were financially dependent on someone who has passed away and their will does not adequately provide for you, you may have grounds to challenge it. Barnes Law is here to help you understand your entitlements and, if necessary, make a claim under the Inheritance Act.

Claims under the Inheritance Act

People eligible to make claims under the Inheritance Act include current or former spouses, civil partners, children (including minors, adults, adopted, and step-children treated as part of the family), and individuals who have lived with the deceased continuously for at least two years before their passing.

Success in such cases may result in the court adjusting the distribution of the estate. This could mean receiving a lump sum, regular payments to cover living expenses, or the transfer of property rights.
